Is it good for children to have allergies? United Family Allergy Clinic provides precise examination and desensitization treatment (including Hong Kong and Macau drug and equipment Tong Outuo Ke) to minimize children's suffering!

Allergies have become a very common problem, and severe allergies can indeed be life-threatening. How to diagnose and treat children's allergies is a topic of concern for many parents. Today, we have invited Sun Yunxia, the director of the Children's Center at Shenzhen Xinfeng United Family Hospital, to share her knowledge with everyone——

1、 What is an allergic disease?

Allergic diseases are a group of hypersensitivity diseases caused by the body's immune system reacting to harmless substances in the environment, which can cause tissue damage or various functional disorders, and belong to the category of immune diseases.
Allergic diseases can persist from infancy to adulthood, known as the allergic March process, which develops from one system to multiple systems: it can affect the skin, digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, etc., such as allergic conjunctivitis, etc. The same patient may have one or more allergens causing the disease, and the same patient may also have multiple allergic diseases coexisting.

2、 The incidence of allergic diseases

Allergic diseases (including food allergies, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and allergic asthma) have become one of the common diseases in the 21st century, affecting about 25% of the global population. This type of disease not only seriously damages the quality of life of patients, but may also endanger their lives and cause significant socio-economic burdens.
In recent years, the incidence of allergic diseases in Chinese children has gradually approached that of Western countries. For example, the detection rate of food allergies in children under 2 years old in Chongqing is 3.5% to 7.7% [2,3]; Other allergic diseases are on the rise, such as the incidence of atopic dermatitis in children aged 1-7 in China, which increased from 3.07% in 2002 to 12.94% in 2015 [4,5]; In recent years, the average cumulative prevalence of asthma among urban children under 14 years old in China has reached 3.02%, and the prevalence of allergic rhinitis among the population in Chinese Mainland has also reached 4% -38% [7].

3、 What are the common allergic diseases?

Common allergic diseases include food allergies, allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis, hay fever, oral allergy syndrome, atopic dermatitis, severe allergic reactions, etc.

4、 The pathogenesis of allergic diseases

The pathogenesis is complex and can be divided into IgE Mediated, non mediated IgE Mediated and mixed allergic reactions.
IgE Mediated allergy mainly refers to the most common type I hypersensitivity reaction (immediate hypersensitivity reaction) in clinical practice, which often occurs within minutes to 2 minutes after exposure to allergens h Internally, it can cause clinical manifestations such as urticaria, angioedema, bronchial asthma, and anaphylactic shock.
Delayed type hypersensitivity reactions often occur between 2 and 48 days after exposure to allergens h Even longer, delayed type hypersensitivity reactions can cause mucosal exudation in the early stages, leading to tissue damage and proliferative inflammation due to long-term recurrent attacks.

5、 What are the influencing factors of allergic diseases? How to diagnose?

The influencing factors of the disease include genetics, environment, infection, gut microbiota, etc. The pathogenesis is complex, and diagnosis often requires detailed medical history collection (including family history, feeding history, allergy history, disease history, etc.), blood eosinophil testing, skin pricking, or serum specificity IgE Testing, oral stimulation tests, and other examinations are conducted by experienced doctors to accurately interpret the report based on medical history and make a correct diagnosis.

6、 What are the common allergens?

Allergens are highly correlated with age of onset, type of allergic disease, environment, climate, and other factors.

Food allergies are predominant in infants and young children before the age of 3, with food sensitization and/or food allergies occurring in 5% -10% of young children, with a peak incidence around the age of 1

Common food allergens in Chinese children include milk, eggs, seafood, mangoes, etc., while allergens commonly found in Western countries such as peanuts, nuts, and soybeans are relatively rare in Chinese children, IgE Allergies mediated by milk, eggs, soybeans, wheat, etc. may develop a certain degree of tolerance or even complete tolerance with age; Peanut and nut allergies often persist into adults.

Children over 3 years old are mainly exposed to inhaled allergens. Epidemiological surveys have shown that dust mites are an allergen for approximately 50% of rhinitis and asthma patients in China. In Guangdong, dust mites account for 72-85% of respiratory allergic diseases, and pollen allergies have significantly increased in northern China.

Allergy Clinic
The Children's Center of Shenzhen Xinfeng United Family Hospital has now launched an allergy specialist clinic. Through multidisciplinary cooperation, it aims to achieve precise diagnosis and treatment, provide high-quality services for allergic children, and improve the long-term prognosis of allergic disease patients. Based on the multidisciplinary cooperation of comprehensive hospitals (dermatology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, respiratory medicine, nutrition, traditional Chinese medicine), our hospital has set up a comprehensive children's allergy package.
At the same time, our hospital has been approved by the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration to introduce two desensitization treatment drugs within the scope of the Hong Kong Macau Medical Device Communication——

• Otec Epithelial sublingual spray solution (domestic cats): specifically for cat hair/dander allergy
• Otec Epithelial sublingual spray solution (for dogs): specifically for dog hair/dander allergy

Our hospital is the first hospital in Shenzhen approved to introduce the above two drugs.
Two drugs are prescription drugs and require allergen testing before use. If you or your family members are troubled by allergies, you can consider seeking medical attention at our hospital and evaluating whether the medication is suitable.
